Etymotic ER4 Series
Etymotic invented the world's first noise-isolating, in-ear earphones. Etymotic's original insert earphone design, developed for auditory research and medical diagnostics, used balanced armature receivers and established these speakers as the gold standard for high-definition, in-ear earphones. The ER4 MicroPro series earphones were the first earphones commercialized using this technology and are recognized as the world leader in response accuracy, to which all other earphones are compared. After more than 20 years, these reference-quality earphones are still the choice of serious sound engineers, audiophiles and musicians.
The Etymotic ER4-PT earphones, intended for sound engineers and audiophiles in constant motion and can be used with portable devices without an additional amplifier. It can also be converted to the ER4-S response with the included P-to-S cable. Compared to the ER4-S, the ER4-PT has 10 dB greater output at high frequencies and 13 dB greater output at low frequencies. The higher sensitivity and enhanced bass of the ER4-PT have made it the most popular earphone in the series. Included with every pair of ER4-PT earphones is an industry-exclusive channel-matching compliance graph, signed by the Etymotic engineer who precision matched and custom tuned the balanced-armature drivers.
The Etymotic ER4-S earphones were designed to compensate for the high frequency emphasis in all CD recordings, in order to provide accurate sound reproduction. Performing musicians often use them as in-ear monitors because the response of the ER4-S matches the response of most typical monitor loudspeakers. The high accuracy and exceptional sound isolation of the ER4-S have made these earphones popular with musicians, recording engineers and audiophiles. ER4-S earphones can be used with a headphone amplifier when using low power portable devices.
About Etymotic Headphones Singapore
Etymotic Research, Inc. is an engineering-driven research, development and manufacturing company. The name "Etymotic" (pronounced "et-im-oh-tik.") means "true to the ear." Mead Killion, Ph.D. founded Etymotic Research in 1983 to design products that accurately assess hearing, improve the lives of those with hearing loss, protect hearing, and enhance the listening experience of musicians and music lovers everywhere.
With deep roots in acoustic research and the hearing aid industry, Etymotic invented insert earphones in 1984. Etymotic's original earphone design used balanced armature receivers, which established these speakers as the gold standard for high definition in-ear earphones. The first versions were used for diagnostic testing and precision auditory research (ER-1, 2, 3). Etymotic produced the first noise-isolating high-fidelity in-ear earphone, the ER-4 (1991), which became the basis of all subsequent in-ear earphones and in-ear monitors worldwide, and created an entire category of consumer electronics. The ER-4 earphones are still produced and channel-balanced to within 1 dB in Etymotic's labs in the US.
Innovation, education and hearing conservation are central to Etymotic's mission. Etymotic's products are used by scientists, hearing practitioners, hearing-impaired consumers, professional and amateur musicians, and others who insist on superior sound quality. Audio engineers, audiologists and musicians working together have generated over 100 patents issued and pending. A number of Etymotic's 60 employees are accomplished musicians. Etymotic Research is located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
