TomTom Multi-Sport

The Multi-sport series, as the name suggests, typically appeals to those who are interested to track real-time information while they are running, swimming and cycling. If you’re thinking about doing your first triathlon and need something that can help you track your progress, the Multi-Sport looks like an attractive option. TomTom Cardio

The main difference between the TomTom Cardio series and the TomTom Non-Cardio series is that the Cardio series comes with a built-in heart rate monitor that does not require you to wear a chest strap. Your heart rate is measured through a sensor in the watch that monitors changes in the blood flow in your wrist. This is done by shining light through the skin and detecting the changing light reflections. Independent testing has shown that the built-in Heart Rate Monitor is "extremely accurate" compared to electrocardiography which is used in the chest strap. We recommend runners to go with the TomTom Runner Cardio and triathletes or those who want to track their running, swimming and cycling activities to go with the TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio.

Is Heart Rate Monitoring Important To You?

Heart Rate Monitoring

How important is monitoring your heart rate during your workouts? Well, both Runner and Multi-Sport series will cover that. The question lies in whether you would prefer your heart rate to be measured by electrocardiography (chest strap) or by the more advanced, light sensor (built-in). If you’re leaning towards the light sensor, then go for the TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio or the TomTom Runner Cardio.
